Widemouth Bay to Millook Haven
Another day, another new bit of coastline covered. Today we started off from Widemouth Bay and headed west down the coast, the sun was shining and it was about 20 degrees. The first part of the route took us along the clifftops with a gentle incline that makes its way to a small pebbled beach just past Black Rock where a quick splash and paddle was had...
Once off the beach it was uphill with quite a climb to Penalt hill where there was a nice seated area to sit and admire the views back across the bay to Bude and GCHQ. We then followed the coast path along and down to Millook Haven Beach for a play with the ball. It’s a very pebbly beach underneath a cliff that’s been battered year in, year out by strong Atlantic winds. The rugged cliffs have been exposed to the elements revealing the different rock formations making up the cliff.
Thanks to the joys of the fitness monitor I found out it was just over 1000 feet from beach level to the top of the cliffs. On the way back we admired the views across the bay and retraced our footsteps back to the car park and a big bowl of water to refresh ourselves and cool down.
