Park Head national trust conservation zone wood carvings on boat

The Park Head Loop...

A warm September morning that was too nice to stay indoors working, especially with a collie and puppy dog eyes sat on the patio looking up at the blue skies. We picked up the car keys and off we went but where we going. The north coast looked a lot nicer than the south coast so we heated off to find a National Trust car park and the free parking out membership gives us #Priceless

We started off at Park Head and make our way across the fields and down to the conservation area, the old boat with the animal carvings was still there but was very overgrown compared to the last time we visited. Next stop was the small rocky beach, we didn’t stop long as there was a dead seal rotting away just above the high tide line. Up the steps and onto cliff path to head east we went, as we followed the path around there was a bench with a lovely view, can imagine many people have stopped here over the years and gathered their thoughts.

The cliff path follows it way around the headland and opens up to reveal the golden sands of Porthcothan Bay. A picture perfect beach much the opposite of the rocky craggy one 1/2 mile around the coastline. It was low tide, the sun was shining, some dudes were out surfing or atleast trying too and it was perfect conditions to play ball. We can’t go anywhere without a ball in Sprockets mouth and today we had the favourite one with us, the green chuckit erratic ball. The uneven edges and square shape of this ball make the bounce unpredictable, especially when thrown with a bit of sand onto a firm beach as the clip on Sprockies Instagram shows...

After an enjoyable time playing ball we left the beach and headed back along the cliff path towards Park Head beach. Instead of turning left after the footbridge and going back to the car park we turned right and made our way put onto Park Head and across to the delights of Bedruthan Steps. A beautiful sight on a sunny day looking down from above I’m sure you will agree...

From here it was a short walk back across a couple of fields to the car park where a bowl of fresh water and his Rukka Pets Micro Light bathrobe was waiting for him. Homeward bound we went with a 4 mile walk completed and another new part of the Cornish coastline ticked off...
