Wow, Just Wow...

Wow, Just Wow...

... words that were repeatedly uttered by mother on this mornings coastal walk. The clocks went back by an hour last night and the miserable stormy weather from Saturday was gone and replaced by an almost cloud free sky and a stunning sunrise.

Wow, just wow look at that view of the gribben head.

We walked down the path to the beach at Polridmouth Cove and saw the swans in the lake, with the early morning mist it looked like they were floating above the water. At the beach we had to make a decision of turning right and heading upto Gribben Head or left to Fowey. Mum wanted a shorter walk so we went left and along the coast path, onto Coombe Haven beach to play ball and enjoy the views.

We followed the coastal path around the headland to St Catherine’s Castle and the views up the River Fowey and across to Polruan. Once the views had been admired it was down onto Readymoney Beach and a paddle in the sea, it’s not really autumnal weather today.

From there it was it was into Fowey town centre and past the tropical gardens where you could have been forgiven it was a summer day in the Mediterranean rather than an autumn day in Cornwall. A quick break with a coffee to refuel whilst sat on the beach watching the lifeboat head out for exercises.

From Fowey it was back upto Lankelly and through the sweetcorn fields trying to find the footpath to take us back towards Coombe Farm car park and the footpath to take us back down to the beach.

Coombe Haven and the gribben head

One final play on the beach, a cheeky way of washing all the mud off in the sea and it was back up the footpath to the car park and the end of a nigh on 7 mile stroll.
